Chris Leben colliding with Karlos Vemola at UFC’s year-end event

Chris Leben will return to action a month after his suspension for a failed drug test is up, as UFC officials have announced Leben will meet Karlos Vemola before the year expires.

The middleweights will square off at UFC 155, set to take place in Las Vegas on December 29. Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is expected to defend his title against Cain Velasquez in the main event.

Leben (22-8) was suspended for a year after a failed drug test for banned substances after a November 2011 loss to Mark Munoz. He has gone 12-7 during his UFC career including wins over Yoshihiro Akiyama and Wanderlei Silva.

Vemola (9-3) is 2-3 inside the Octagon and is definite need of the win after suffering a hard-fought decision loss to Francis Carmont in his latest fight. The 27-year old Czech has finished all nine of the opponents he’s beaten including a nice balance between TKOs/submissions.

Will be good to see the Crippler back in action. Always a good fight.

Another nice addition to the NYE weekend card, as Leben is a pretty safe bet for a crowd-pleasing fight. And hopefully he’ll come back somewhat revitalized following the lengthy suspension, but I don’t think his career will last much longer. He’s an old 32 years old, having put his body thru hell between his style of fighting, the alcohol, and the pain meds & other drugs. That shite catches up with ya.
