Eddie Alvarez vs. Patricky Freire confirmed for Bellator 76

Bellator 76 will feature a highly anticipated fight between Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Freire. The lightweight scrap, most likely Alvarez’s last fight in the Bellator for contractual reasons, will take place in the main event of Bellator 76 on October 12 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The event will also feature the opening round of the Season 7 featherweight tournament.

Alvarez (23-3) feels this is the perfect fight for him and the fans, saying, “After hearing Bellator wanted to put this fight together, I really don’t think they could have made a better matchup for the fans to enjoy. Pitbull has proven to be a legitimate threat in the past and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” in an official press release.

Freire (10-3), who is one-half of the company’s “Pitbull” brothers, was overwhelmed when he got the news he would get the chance to fight Alvarez.

“I can’t put into words the emotion I’m feeling from thinking about this fight. I’m a warrior, and I always fight for pride. I want this fight, and I’m going to give the fans a show,” Freire explained. “October 12 is going to be a big test for me, but I’m very happy for this fight, and the opportunity Bellator is giving me to fight someone like Eddie Alvarez.”
