Strikeforce confirms Daniel Cormier still fighting on November 3

Fans received some bad news yesterday when it was revealed that heavyweight Frank Mir had withdrawn from a November 3 bout with Strikeforce star Daniel Cormier after suffering a knee injury while training. Though Mir may be out of the tilt, fortunately, it looks like Strikeforce is still planning on Cormier’s presence come showtime.

According to MMAJunkie, the organization is currently seeking a replacement for Mir. Andrei Arlovski, Roy Nelson, and Fabricio Werdum have all spoken up to volunteer for the vacancy, though no specific names were mentioned in the report as being frontrunners.

Officials also confirmed Mir’s injury was related to his knee. No other details were provided regarding his condition or the expected recovery time.

The card is scheduled to take place in Oklahoma City where Cormier once called home as a wrestler at Oklahoma State. It is expected to be his last fight under the Strikeforce banner before joining the UFC.
