Anthony Johnson makes it 3-0 since UFC release with Friday night finish of Jake Rosholt

It looks like Anthony Johnson has finally found a permanent divisional home after scoring his second straight win at light heavyweight in a match-up last night with fellow UFC veteran Jake Rosholt. The dueling duo served as headliners at XFN 9.

Johnson’s victory came after well-placed head kick in the second round of action wobbled Rosholt, causing him to stumble down to the canvas before “Rumble” could follow the strike up with another shot. Though Rosholt remained conscious throughout the sequence the referee still opted to stop the bout at that point, possibly influenced by the overwhelming amount of damage Johnson did to his adversary’s face in the moments leading up to the finish.

The win improved Johnson’s overall record to 13-4 and was his third straight instance of success. The performance, coupled with Johnson’s decision to compete at 205 pounds, could earn the 28-year old another opportunity in the UFC after being released by the promotion earlier this year based on his struggles with making a lower weight.

Glad to see AJ get his shit straight and start winning fights. If I were UFC I would have to see at LEAST 5 consecutive impressive fights combined with him making weight before I would consider picking up phone to offer him a shot.

Talented guy , but history of lack of focus and missing weight would make anyone hesitant from offering him a big money fight just yet.

LHW talent is shallow… it won’t be long before he gets a phone call. I say one more successful weight cut with another impressive win… His last Zuffa fight was against Belfort who just fought for a title so it’s not to hard to find is way back on the radar… he just gotta prove his worth & that he’s on track. LHW needs all the decent fighters they can get.
