Andrei Arlovski colliding with Devin Cole in November at World Seris of Fighting event

The World Series of Fighting appears dead-set on delivering an extremely memorable event when the organization is officially unveiled on November 3 in Las Vegas, as the card already features a number of well-known veterans like Gesias Cavalcante and Miguel Torres. Now it looks like a former UFC champion will set foot inside the cage as well.

Earlier today, WSoF officials revealed Andrei Arlovski had been booked for a bout against Devin Cole. Their fight will serve as the card’s headliner.

“We are thrilled to welcome both Andrei and Devin to the World Series of Fighting roster and to have them headline our first live event,” explained WSoF President Ray Sefo in a press release announcing the match-up. “Both of these heavyweights have delivered some incredibly memorable highlights during their careers and their matchup should be a barnburner.”

The 17-9 Arlovski has built a reputation for himself as one of the better heavyweight strikers in the sport, racking up past wins over the likes of Ben Rothwell, Tim Sylvia, Fabricio Werdum, and Roy Nelson. Thirteen of his triumphs have involved a strike-based stoppage.

Meanwhile, Cole is 20-9-1 with ten TKOs to his credit. He has come out with his hand raised the last two times he’s taken to the ring with both victories coming under the Strikeforce banner.

Great…. This is from Cole’s Wikipedia page, in case people forgot:

On June 14, 2008, Cole was arrested by the Medford, Oregon police department and charged with first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual penetration. The charges were later reduced to assault in the fourth degree and sexual harassment, to which Cole plead guilty. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Does ANYONE do their due diligence when hiring these days?

World Series of Fighting? Also known as “Anyone with a heartbeat”. AA is washed up and will be lucky to beat this can. One wild punch in the beard and out he goes. Reminds me of “MIke Tyson’s Punch Out ” for SNES. One good punch and the eyes go on like a slot machine and they drop.

“Devin Cole says 2008 incident kept him from UFC on FOX 4 fight with Travis Browne”

“I had the contract in my hand,” Cole on Friday told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “I was signing my bout agreement and was printing out the actual UFC contract to fight Travis Browne. As I’m signing it, (my manager) called to say it got (killed) because of my background.”
