UFC on FX 5 Weigh-In Results

One of the most star-studded UFC on FX cards thus far is set to unfold tomorrow night from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The lineup is headlined by heavyweight action between seasoned scrapper Antonio Silva and unbeaten up-and-comer Travis Browne with a ton of other notable bouts scheduled such as Jeremy Stephens-Yves Edwards, Danny Castillo-Michael Johnson, Thiago Tavares-Dennis Hallman, John Dodson-Jussier Formiga, Jacob Volkmann-Shane Roller, Diego Nunes-Bart Palaszewski, and Jake Ellenberger-Jay Hieron.

Before the competitors take to the cage and lock horns they’ll have to overcome the adversity of making their required weight limits. Fighters will step on the scale this afternoon at 5:00 PM EST and, as usual, Five Ounces of Pain will be providing weights as they’re revealed from the stage.

Dennis Hallman and Thiago Tavares did not weigh in, and the fight is off. Hallman was 7 pounds over weight, and Tavares agreed to take the fight if Hallman got with in 3 pounds. Hallman agreed, but didn’t lose anymore weight. Tavares did make weight, and will be awarded his show money.

If Hallman isn’t cut by the post-fight presser, I’d imagine we find out on Monday. Twice he’s missed weight.

I stand corrected. Hallman stated on Twitter that he was 2.5 lbs over at the weigh-in, but withdrew due to personal issues. Looks like he may not be cut. (I just hope he stops with the unmanageable weight cuts.)

Hope it’s nothing too major. I like Hallman when he’s not showing me his junk…

    Aaand he’s cut.

“They are cutting me,” he wrote. “Dana [White] gave me my show and win pay to help me deal with the mountain in front of me. Now I have to go make weight a couple times on the regional circuit. I’ll be back to the UFC though, I always am.”

“I’m having some personal issues at home,” Hallman said. “I’m not fit to fight. I told Dana [White] what my issues were. He understands family matters, and he was cool with me not fighting.”

I hope Hallman can get his stuff together, hes a brilliant ground fighter when not making horrible fashion decisions. Anyone who can beat Matt Hughes deserves credit, especially if they do it more than once.
