The Jeremy Stephens-Yves Edwards bout is possibly off of tonight’s UFC on FX 5 event. Stephens was arrested this morning at the hotel the fighters are staying at for an outstanding warrant, and is still in custody in the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.
Five Ounces of Pain has confirmed the warrant is from his home state of Iowa and according to the Hennepin County website he is being held without bail on a felony charge.
Despite the news, UFC President Dana White has been telling media outlets that he expects the fight to take place. White also took to twitter and commented on some news sources reporting the fight is off, “Don’t listen to the media! Nobody ever told them Jeremy isn’t fighting. He is fighting!!”
Stephens (20-8) is scheduled to fight Edwards (41-18-1) in the last fight on the FUEL TV portion of the FX event tonight. Stephens is looking to rebound from a two fight skid. He last lost in May to Donald Cerrone by unanimous decision. This will be the first time Edwards has been in the octagon this year, but he is also looking to rebound from a decision loss. He lost last December to Tony Ferguson at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale.
