Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold out of November title-fight due to injury

Middleweight Luke Rockhold’s struggle to stay healthy for an extended period of time continues to be just that, as the Strikeforce title-holder has withdrawn from a scheduled defense against Lorenz Larkin on the organization’s November 3 card. No specific details were offered on the matter other than to say Rockhold injured his wrist while training for the bout.

MMAFighting was first to report Rockhold’s change in status though Strikeforce has yet to make an official announcement on the matter. Assuming he is indeed out of action, Rockhold will mark the second high-profile fighter to be pulled from the event after headliner Frank Mir went down a few weeks ago.

Strikeforce will likely seek a replacement for Rockhold given the amount of time remaining before the show.

Kinda sucks but easy fix : Larkin vs Souza, winner fights Rockhold.

I’d also throw Robbie Lawler at Roger Gracie. Winner of this fights winner of Kennedy vs Trevor Smith (unless its a Kennedy/Lawler rematch)

and do a battle of previous SF winners – Anthony Smith vs Amagov. Winner of this fights loser of Larkin/Souza

And try to get Brunson back on track with a fight against Jardine. I’d have the winner of this fight the ‘higher ranked’ loser of Lawler/Gracie fight or the Kennedy/T.Smith fight.

and Lumumba Sayers vs Danillo Villifort or Nate James.

…and what ever happened to Yancy Medeiros?

Not sure how credible they are, but I have been reading rumours that this may be it for Strikeforce. From what I’ve read, stick a fork in ‘em.

3 years ago, that news would depress me. Now… now I just hope it’s accurate.
