Glover Teixeira could be facing six months on the sidelines due to injury

Last weekend, UFC light heavyweight Glover Teixeira reminded fans of why he was so highly-touted coming into the organization by picking apart opponent Fabio Maldonado at UFC 153 and drawing a doctor’s stoppage based on damage he’d dished out. Unfortunately, it looks like it could be awhile before Teixeira has an opportunity to repeat the feat, as an injury he suffered in the bout could keep him out of action until mid-2013.

According to the list of medical suspensions stemming from the October 13 event, Teixeira will need to spend up to 180 days on the sidelines until he gets his hand/elbow x-rayed and is cleared by a physician. Maldonado is also facing a similar sentence though he will need to see a neurological specialist to confirm he is okay after absorbing a ton of blows in the bout.

MMAWeekly was able to obtain the list of suspensions from Zuffa, as the affected card was held in Brazil where there is no official athletic commission (meaning the UFC was forced to handle the matter internally).

Other fighters possibly facing an extended absence from the ring are Sergio Moraes, Chris Camozzi, and Luiz Cane.

Check out the full list of medical suspensions below:
