Last weekend featured the debut of a potential-laden promotion in the form of WSOF 1, a card highlighted by appearances from a number of notable competitors including the likes of Gesias Cavalcante, Miguel Torres, Anthony Johnson, and Andrei Arlovski. The lineup aired on NBC Sports and was well-received by all thanks to the action and a slew of stoppages.
With a second show from World Series of Fighting planned for January, talk has already turned to possible pairings at the event, and it looks like the organization’s biggest stars should all be good to go for a follow-up fight under the WSOF banner assuming there’s mutual interest involved.
According to the Nevada Athletic Commission’s list of medical suspensions, headlining heavyweight Arlovksi was among a group also featuring Johnson, Torres, Cavalcante, and Tyrone Spong also exited the event in perfect health. However, some of their counterparts were not so lucky.
Some of the fighters receiving the longest mandated breaks included Devin Cole and Josh Burkman due to potential structural damage suffered in their respective rumbles.
