Mike Easton matched with Raphael Assuncao at UFC on FOX 5 after Bryan Caraway goes down with injury

A change has been made to the December 8 lineup for UFC on FOX 5, albeit one delivering a new match-up with divisional ramifications equivalent to those of the original pairing. Rather than battling Bryan Caraway at the event, bantamweight Mike Easton will now face submission specialist Raphael Assuncao on the evening’s undercard as a result of Caraway suffering some sort of injury while training for the tilt.

MMAJunkie was first to report the switch.

Assuncao, who is coming off success in back-to-back bouts, holds an overall record of 18-4 including nine wins by way of tap-out. Among the notable opponents he’s beaten in his career are the likes of Yves Jabouin, Jorge Masvidal, and Joe Lauzon.

Comparably, the 13-1 Easton is on the cusp of title-contendership and could come close to solidifying his claim with a victory over Assuncao. He was last seen outpointing Ivan Menjivar in July at UFC 148.
