Lorenz Larkin calls present day MMA the “pussy era”

Strikeforce middleweight Lorenz Larkin may only be 26 years old but he seems to have the mentality of a Mixed Martial Artist from the “old school”. An unbeaten prospect, Larkin has been forced to twiddle his thumbs on two separate occasions based on divisional champion Luke Rockhold’s decision to pull out of a scheduled scrap as the result of injury. Though Larkin was understanding the first time around, Rockhold’s most recent withdrawal isn’t sitting well with the 13-0 striker and inspired him to lash out at the current state of his sport.

“Hey Dana I hurt my right pinky toe guess I can’t fight,” wrote Larkin on Twitter in a message directed at UFC President Dana White. “Wish I started two years before I did so I could have skipped this pussy era.”

Larkin’s harsh label echoes White’s own statements about the increasing number of fighters who either back out of bouts for minor health-related reasons or refuse to accept action without a complete camp to prepare.

“The Monsoon” is currently sitting in limbo while waiting for Strikeforce to confirm Rockhold’s status, as well as announce how he is to be handled in the wake of his opponent’s withdrawal. With a January 12 date attached to the company’s next show, plenty of time remains for the organization to find a replacement.
