A highly anticipated featherweight fight slated for next weekend’s UFC on FX 6 lineup has fallen apart after 21-1-1 Brazilian Hacran Dias reportedly withdrew from a match-up with former title-contender Chad Mendes due to an undisclosed injury. However, Mendes will apparently still see action on the December 14 card, as Yaotzin Meza has been tabbed to fill the vacancy created by Dias’ absence.
MMAWeekly was first to report the matter, though UFC officials have yet to confirm the change.
Meza, who will be making his UFC debut in the bout, holds an overall record of 18-7 with eleven stoppages to his credit. That being said, he will certainly have his hands full with Mendes, especially on short notice, considering he hasn’t fought since losing a strike-based stoppage this past April.
UFC on FX 6 features the finals of TUF: Australia vs. U.K. in addition to bouts between coaches Ross Pearson-George Sotiropoulos and talented 185ers Rousimar Palhares-Hector Lombard.
