UFC on FX 6 Results: Pearson starches Sotiropoulos, Lombard plasters Palhares

UFC on FX 6Tonight the first of two Ultimate Fighter seasons concluded this weekend at UFC on FX 6, as the event hosted the finals from the UFC’s latest attempt at international expansion, TUF: Australia vs. UK. Also taking place at the show, coaches Georges Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson threw down, as did talented middleweights Rousimar Palhares-Hector Lombard.

Lombard got back to his his winning ways against the Brazilian submission-specialist, channeling the same ferocity he showed as Bellator champion and blasting Palhares into unconsciousness a little less than four minutes into their fight. The strike-based stoppage was the nineteenth of Lombard’s career and improved his overall record to 33-3-1. After the bout, Lombard made it clear who he wanted next, calling out Michael Bisping for a rumble at some point down the road.

The scrap between Sotiropoulos-Pearson also featured a TKO finish with TUF 9 winner Pearson coming out on top. The Brit’s beatdown of his Australian counterpart started in the first frame when he knocked Sotiropoulos down, though he nearly ended up choked out later in the round, and concluded in the third round as the result of a perfectly timed punch. The shot dropped Sotiropoulos, prompting Pearson to spring on top and eventually meriting the referee’s interference to award the triumph.

On the Ultimate Fighter side of things, welterweights Robert Whittaker (9-2) and Brad Scott (8-1) mixed it up, while lightweights Colin Fletcher (8-1) and Norman Parke (16-2) faced off for their respective division’s six-figure deal. Both Whittaker and Parke came out victorious in their respective rumbles by way of decision, giving Australia and the U.K. each a season-winner.

“Michael Bisping! Where at!? Quit talking and lets do this!” -Lombard

Well after Belfort crushes Bisping maybe Lombard will get his wish.

  • Great card! The welterweight final was a great war! Im also looking forward to seeing Lombard take on more well rounded competition. Ross looked mean as hell out there.

Good card from top to bottom. That front kick to the jaw was amazing. I’d like to see Lombard v Belcher personally, but win or lose Bisping would be a good fight as well.
