Submission-specialist Cody McKenzie has reportedly withdrawn from a December 29 tilt with Leonard Garcia at UFC 155 after suffering some sort of injury while training for the match-up. The situation is an unfortunate one for fans, as the preliminary pairing would have pitted two entertaining featherweights in serious need of a win against one another.
It is unknown if the UFC will find a replacement for McKenzie considering the event’s proximity though, according to MMAJunkie, it is likely.
McKenzie is 13-3 with finishes in all of his wins but got blasted in his 145-pound debut earlier this year, lasting less than a minute with Chad Mendes. The loss was his third in four fights.
