Striker Jeremy Stephens is coming off a third straight loss and arguably the worst of his career, suffering a brutal knockout in the first round of his outing against Yves Edwards earlier this month at UFC on FOX 5. The recent run of adversity has forced Stephens to re-examine his career and, as previously hinted at by the fighter, he’ll be heading down to 145 pounds in 2013 to test his skills as a featherweight.
Stephens’ manager, Ryan Hass, confirmed his client’s plan in a recent interview with MMAJunkie, explaining “Lil Heathen” would be attempting to cut down in January to see how the process affected his body.
“It shouldn’t be a problem and (we’re) looking for a fight by March,” said Hass.
The 26-year old Stephens has earned status as one of the UFC’s most entertaining athletes thanks to his love of stand-up and relative fearlessness in that regard, picking up fourteen of his nineteen total victories by way of TKO.
