One of the most successful women in MMA history has likely fought for the final time in her decorated career but at least exited the sport with her head held high. Though no official announcement about retirement has been made, Japanese star Megumi Fujii previously said 2012 would be her final year as a fighter and saw action over the weekend where she picked up a decision victory.
Fujii outpointed adversary Mei Yamaguchi in a two-round rumble at Vale Tudo 2012. The win came after a fairly dominant performance, handling Yamaguchi in all aspects of the bout.
Assuming she does indeed call it quits, “Mega Megu” exits the sport with an overall record of 26-2 including nineteen submission stoppages. She was also never finished at any point in her career, falling in both of her career stumbles by way of decision.
