Zuffa isn’t wasting any time finding spots for Strikeforce fighters not booked to compete on January 12, adding a match-up between welterweights Dan Miller and Jordan Mein to the lineup for UFC 158. Mein was 2-1 under the Strikeforce banner including a win over Tyler Stinson last July.
UFC officials have confirmed the clash. Other welterweight bouts scheduled for the March 16 card include Johny Hendricks-Jake Ellenberger, Rory MacDonald-Carlos Condit, and headlining title-fight Nick Diaz-Georges St-Pierre.
Mein has already compiled a 26-8 record despite only being 23-years old with 21 triumphs featuring some form of stoppage. Among the numerous notable foes Mein has taken out during his run in the ring are the likes of Marius Zaromskis, Joe Riggs, and Evangelista Santos.
The 14-7 Miller should provide a stiff test for Mein given his overall toughness and polished grappling game. A former middleweight, Miller made his 170-pound debut last year where he choked out Ricardo Funch. The victory was the ninth submission of the New Jersey native’s career.
