The UFC has put together another interesting match-up pitting one of their own against a competitor whose last few fights have come under the Strikeforce banner, as lightweight Yves Edwards will welcome Isaac Vallie-Flagg to the Octagon at UFC 156. Though Edwards is far more experienced than Vallie-Flagg, the Greg Jackson product hasn’t tasted defeat in eleven straight outings including a 2-0 record in Strikeforce.
UFC officials have confirmed the clash. Vallie-Flagg joins Bobby Green and Tyron Woodley as former Strikeforce fighters set for action on the February 2 card.
The 42-18-1 Edwards is coming off a Knockout of the Night finish over Jeremy Stephens at UFC on FOX 5, his sixteenth win by way of a strike-based stoppage. Among the numerous notable opponents Edwards has beaten in his career are the likes of Hermes Franca, Rafaello Oliveira, and Josh Thomson.
Vallie-Flagg, who hasn’t tasted defeat since mid-2007, is 13-3-1 and riding the momentum of a four-fight winning streak including a decision win over Gesias Cavalcante this past May.
