Less than two years ago UFC welterweight Rick Story was seen as a likely title-contender, stringing together six straight wins including success against the likes of Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks. However, #7 was unlucky for the 28-year old, as Story lost a decision to Charlie Brenneman in the bout and came up short in two of his three following tilts as well.
Story will look to right his career’s trajectory (and avoid a potential release) on March 16 when he meets Sean Pierson at UFC 158. Event officials have confirmed the clash’s addition to the card.
The 14-6 Story was last seen suffering a submission loss to Demian Maia in October. In addition to Hendricks and Alves, Story also owns a past victory over Jake Ellenberger in addition to those over Brock Jardine, Ryan Healy, and Dustin Hazelett.
Pierson will definitely entering the match-up with some momentum after picking up back-to-back wins in his last two tussles. He holds an overall record of 13-6 with ten finishes to his credit.
