After yesterday’s exciting announcement regarding bouts between Benson Henderson-Gilbert Melendez and Frank Mir-Daniel Cormier being scheduled for UFC on FOX 7, the organization has started putting together the rest of the lineup including a recently added rumble between welterweights Dan Hardy-Matt Brown. Though both men are skilled on the mat, chances are the two talented 170ers will keep things standing come showtime on April 20 given the love of striking each has shown in past efforts.
UFC officials confirmed the match-up on the company’s website.
After teetering on the brink of release in 2011, Hardy strung together back-to-back victories in 2012 with a knockout of Duane Ludwig and Unanimous Decision over Amir Sadollah in his most recent scrap. “The Outlaw” holds an overall mark of 25-10 with sixteen stoppages including twelve via TKO.
The 16-11 Brown has quietly put together one of the division’s most impressive winning streaks as of late, winning a quartet of consecutive clashes with three knockouts in the bunch. All but two of his triumphs have involved some form of finish. He was last seen blasting Mike Swick into unconsciousness in the second round of their UFC on FOX 5 fight.
