Mitch Gagnon meeting Issei Tamura at UFC 158

Issei TamuraThe lineup for the UFC’s March 16 stop in Montreal is continuing to fill up as the date grows ever closer. Though welterweight heavy, UFC 158 also features a number of interesting fights in other divisions including a recently added rumble between bantamweights Mitch Gagnon and Issei Tamura.

SportsNet was first to report the fight. The card is headlined by a title-bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and rival Nick Diaz with other notable welterweight match-ups including Patrick Cote-Bobby Voelker, Carlos Condit-Rory MacDonald, and Johny Hendricks-Jake Ellenberger.

Gagnon’s presence at the show should bring smiles to the faces of fans attending UFC 158 considering his Canadian heritage. The 28-year old submission specialist is 9-2 in his career with all of his wins coming by way of tap-out including an opening round Rear-Naked Choke of Walel Watson in his previous pairing.

Meanwhike, Tamura will be looking to bounce back from defeat after losing to Raphael Assuncao last July. The stumble dropped the 7-3 grappler to 1-1 inside the Octagon, likely making his fight with Gagnon a “must win” affair.
