Two of the UFC’s surging featherweights have been scheduled to scrap on March 16 at UFC 158 in the form of a bout between Darren Elkins and Antonio Carvalho. Both men are riding the momentum of respectable winning streaks and will look to move up to main card status with a victory in Montreal.
UFC officials have confirmed the clash.
The 15-2 Elkins has exited the Octagon with his hand raised in a quartet of consecutive clashes including success against Michihiro Omigawa, Diego Brandao, and most recently Steven Siler. Nine of his wins have featured some form of finish with a near-even split between submissions/TKOs.
Comparably, Carvalho is coming off back-to-back triumphs over Daniel Pineda and Rodrigo Damm. He holds an overall record of 15-5 with his biggest win to date coming a little over five years ago when he beat Hatsu Hioki.
