Patricky Freire pulled from Bellator 87

Bellator 87Bellator lost one of its premier players in the lightweight division this week when Patricky Freire suffered an undisclosed injury in camp and was forced to pull out of his Season 8 quarterfinal clash with Guillaume DeLorenzi. Unfortunately, with the bout being scheduled to take place tomorrow night at Bellator 87, Freire will no longer be able to participate in the pairing and has been replaced.

Fighters.com confirmed the change with sources close to the situation as have a handful of other outlets.

Freire, who has been out of action since October, will be replaced by Saad Awad who was initially set for a scrap with Jason Fischer on the undercard. Awad is 12-4 with six submissions and four TKOs to his credit.

Completing the domino effect, Sevak Magakian will take Awad’s spot against Fischer.
