The list of scraps scheduled for April 27 in Newark, New Jersey at UFC 159 is still growing after a run of recently revealed match-ups, as the organization has announced bouts between welterweights James Head-Nick Catone and lightweights Rustam Khabilov-Yancy Medeiros. Head and Catone are both in need of a victory after stumbles in their previous scraps, while Khabilov and Medeiros are on the opposite end of the momentum spectrum with each entering the evening holding a respectable winning streak.
UFC officials have confirmed both fights.
Head (9-3) had scored back-to-back successes in the Octagon before losing to Mike Pyle in December. Also notable, seven of his victories have featured some form of stoppage. Meanwhile, the 9-4 Catone is in a “must win” situation after consecutive stumbles but will at least have the crowd backing him as a New Jersey native.
In the other offering, Medeiros is unbeaten through nine career clashes with six knockouts to his credit. Comparably, Khabilov (15-1) has come out with his hand raised in his last four fights including a knockout of Vinc Pichel in his UFC debut.
UFC 159 features a title-fight between light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and controversial contender Chael Sonnen in the main event slot with 185-pounders Michael Bisping-Alan Belcher serving in a co-headlining capacity.
