A visibly disappointed Frankie Edgar took to the stage last night after coming up a hair short against UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo at UFC 156, expressing uncertainty about his future after another closely-contested decision loss. Edgar and Aldo battled it out in the evening’s headliner with each getting the better of the other at times even though the Brazilian ultimately walked away with his title-reign intact.
Edgar spoke to media at the post-event press conference where he shied away from second-guessing the bout’s outcome, preferring to accept fate rather than driving himself nuts over something he can’t change.
“Jose Aldo’s the champion. That’s pretty much the bottom line. I don’t want to be talking about, ‘Do you think you won?’ This and that, the score of the rounds…it doesn’t matter. He left with the belt and he’s the champion,” said Edgar.
Whether the 31-year old’s next fight will involve another 145-pound opponent or a return to the division Edgar held gold remains to be seen. In fact, Edgar isn’t even sure himself.
“I don’t know what I’m doing. It’s too soon,” offered the bruised and battered brawler.
