It looks like MMA fans are in store for another injection of free action on a regular basis thanks to an official announcement from the World Series of Fighting confirming the company had signed a three-year contract with NBC Sports to promote events on the network. The WSOF debuted last November with a stacked card featuring the likes of Miguel Torres, Anthony Johnson, and Andrei Arlovski.
“We are thrilled to call NBC Sports the home of WSOF,” said promotional president Ray Sefo in a prepared statement to media. “This partnership will allow us to build the WSOF brand of world-class MMA competition before a dedicated national audience of passionate sports fans and place our athletes on the big stage that they deserve.”
According to a press release, a minimum of six shows will appear on NBC Sports on an annual basis. A streaming feature is also being set up for fans who don’t have access to the channel.
WSOF 2 is scheduled for March 23 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The only fight announced thus far is a bantamweight bout between Marlon Moraes (9-4-1) and Tyson Nam (12-4). Moraes is coming off a win over Torres at WSOF 1, while Nam’s name got recent attention for a devastating knockout of Bellator champion Eduardo Dantas at a regional show in Brazil.
