There have times during Anthony Johnson’s career where fans have poked fun at his physique, watching “Rumble” balloon up between bouts before ultimately struggling to hit a necessary weight-related mark. A move to light heavyweight has helped the former 170-pounder in that regard, though Johnson won’t have to worry about slimming down in the least bit for his next outing.
According to a Tweet from heavyweight Andrei Arlovski, he and Johnson are scheduled to scrap on March 23 at WSOF 2 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Both men saw action at WSOF 1 with each picking up a strike-based stoppage in the opening round of their respective rumbles.
Johnson is on a four-fight winning streak with three of his victories involving a TKO. He holds an overall record of 14-4 with some solid performances on his resume, albeit none against a man with the size/skill of Arlovski.
“The Pitbull” is a former UFC heavyweight champ with seventeen finishes in nineteen total wins. Among the notable opponents Arlovski has beaten in his career are the likes of Ben Rothwell, Tim Sylvia, and Roy Nelson.
Other bouts announced for WSOF 2 include Marlon Moraes-Tyson Nam, Paulo Filho-David Branch, and Josh Burkman-Ryan LaFlare. The event will air on NBC Sports.
