The final countdown to female superstar Ronda Rousey’s UFC debut begins in a matter of hours when the first episode of a three-part UFC Primetime feature hits the airwaves. The show is set to chronicle the build towards Rousey’s clash with Liz Carmouche at UFC 157, marking the first fight between females in the organization’s history.
Rousey, the UFC’s bantamweight champ, is unbeaten thus far six fights into her career with all of the wins involving an opening round Armbar. In addition to the Olympic medalist’s prowess on the mat, Rousey has captured the public’s fascination with her unfiltered approach to offering opinion and vicious approach to victory.
Meanwhile, the 8-2 Carmouche is a former Marine and the first openly gay fighter to ever compete in the Octagon. Seven of her instances of in-ring success have involved some form of stoppage.
