The “Strikeforce vs. UFC” trend appears to still be in full effect for UFC on FOX 7 with the latest bout featuring fighters from the opposing brands involving middleweights Lorenz Larkin and Francis Carmont. Larkin was the division’s top contender in Strikeforce before the brand went under, while Carmont is 4-0 in the Octagon and not far from challenging for gold himself.
The Press-Enterprise was first to report the bout, though the UFC has yet to provide official confirmation of the April 20 tilt’s existence.
The 13-0 Larkin is coming off an outpointing of Robbie Lawler last July and owes eight of his past wins to strike-based stoppages. He was scheduled to face Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold in January but saw the tilt fall apart due to injury.
Meanwhile, Carmont is on a nine-fight run including success against Chris Camozzi, Karlos Vemola, and Tom Lawlor. He holds an overall record of 20-7 with sixteen victories featuring some form of finish.
