Heavyweight action has been slated for the UFC’s April 6 stop in Stockholm, Sweden! According to an official statement, Matt Mitrione will mix it up with Philip De Fries at UFC on Fuel 9 where both men will look to bounce back from strike-based stoppages in their most recent rumbles.
Mitrione-De Fries is the latest bout added to a quickly-growing lineup featuring light heavyweights Alexander Gustafsson-Gegard Mousasi in the main event.
Playfully dubbed “Meathead” during his time on TUF 10, Mitrione started his career out with five wins in a row including four TKOs, all in the Octagon, before falling to Cheick Kongo and Roy Nelson in back-to-back bouts. The former NFL lineman owns past wins over the likes of Kimbo Slice, Christian Morecraft, and Joey Beltran.
De Fries is 9-2 in his career with eight victories by way of submission.
