Amir Sadollah-Stephen Thompson tussling at UFC 160

Stephen Thompson - UFC 145 WorkoutsThe UFC’s annual Memorial Day Weekend event started taking shape this week with the announcement of bouts between Junior dos Santos-Alistair Overeem and Antonio Silva-Cain Velasquez. The company has since announced another in-ring affair for UFC 160, and while it lacks the prestige of the previously mentioned match-ups, the scrap should still deliver a solid dose of entertainment.

Specifically, UFC officials have confirmed a previously rumored welterweight rumble on May 25 between TUF 7 winner Amir Sadollah and seasoned striker Stephen Thompson.

Sadollah is 6-4 in his career with all of the fights taking place inside the Octagon. Among the opponents he’s emerged victorious against are the likes of C.B. Dollaway, Phil Baroni, and DaMarques Johnson.

Comparably, the 6-1 Thompson made his UFC debut with an exciting head-kick KO of Dan Stittgen but fell against Matt Brown in his follow-up performance.
