Though the changes may have been far more notable, the recent creation of new bouts between Nate Marquardt-Jake Ellenberger and Carlos Condit-Johny Hendricks weren’t the only alterations the company made to the UFC 158 lineup as a result of injury. In fact, it appears bantamweight Issei Tamura will see action against someone other than original opponent Mitch Gagnon.
According to the Canadian Press, T.J. Dillashaw has agreed to step in and face Tamura on March 16 in Montreal after Gagnon went down in training with some sort of health-related woe.
The 6-1 Dillashaw has found success both of his scraps since coming in second place to John Dodson on the Ultimate Fighter 14. However, he’s been sidelined since a July submission win over Vaughan Lee, seeing a subsequent match-up with Mike Easton fall apart for medical reasons.
Tamura is 7-3 with the bulk of his victories coming by decision. He is 1-1 in the Octagon with a knockout of Tiequan Zhang in his promotional debut.
