UFC featherweights Jimy Hettes and Steven Siler were both on solid winning streaks before coming up short in their previous bouts, setting the perfect stage for a bout between the two on April 27 at UFC 159. Siler had won all three of his tilts since showing up on TUF 14 before dropping a decision to Darren Elkins, while Hettes suffered the first stumble of his career last September in a match-up with Marcus Brimage.
Siler confirmed the two were scheduled for action against each other in Atlantic City at the event.
The 10-1 Hettes picked up victories over Alex Caceres and Nam Phan in his first two appearances inside the Octagon. The New Jersey native, who will obviously be a crowd favorite come showtime, has scored all but one of his instances of success have come by way of submission.
Though Siler is only a year older than Hettes, he has nearly 3X his opponent’s experience with an overall mark of 21-10. Fifteen of his total triumphs have involved finishes.
