Heavy-handed fighter Robbie Lawler had scored strike-based stoppages in sixteen of nineteen wins entering his clash with Josh Koscheck at UFC 157. However, few if any were as big as the one he notched against the former title-contender, as it not only established Lawler as a legitimate threat at 170 pounds but also landed him Knockout of the Night honors as the only TKO on the card.
Lawler received an extra $50,000 on top of his regularly contracted rate for the distinction.
Meanwhile, Submission of the Night was awarded to Kenny Robertson for drawing a tap from Brock Jardine with a unique leg lock. He too scored $50,000 for the finish.
Also receiving an extra $50,000 for their performances were Dennis Bermudez and Matt Grice after their undercard effort was named Fight of the Night. The match-up saw both men in trouble at certain points with Bermudez being dropped early only to battle back and nearly put Grice away late, ultimately winning a Split Decision nod in the end.
