A bout between featherweight strikers has been added to the lineup for UFC 160 in the form of Jeremy Stephens-Estevan Payan. Both men are dropping down from 155 pounds for the fight which will also serve as Payan’s debut in the UFC after a pair of successful performances under the Strikeforce banner.
UFC officials have confirmed the match-up’s attachment to the May 25 event.
The 20-9 Stephens has come up short in his last three tilts, prompting the heavy-handed slugger’s decision to slim down. Seventeen of his wins have featured some form of stoppage including fourteen by way of strikes.
While Stephens has struggled as of late, Payan is unbeaten in his last seven scraps with a TKO in a January effort at Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine. He holds an overall record of 14-3.
