The UFC didn’t waste any time finding a new main event for the Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale after original headliner Demetrious Johnson-John Moraga fell apart due to injury. Though it isn’t a title-bout as Johnson-Moraga was, the result should still be an entertaining affair given the talents of both competitors. Specifically, fan-favorite Urijah Faber will lock horns with Scott Jorgensen at the April 13 event.
UFC President Dana White confirmed the clash on Twitter.
Faber is coming off an impressive first-round finish of Ivan Menjivar at UFC 157, putting him back on track after a decision loss to interim champ Renan Barao in his previous bout. “The California Kid” is 27-6 in his career with 22 stoppages and a number of solid wins including those over Eddie Wineland, Brian Bowles, and Dominick Cruz.
Like Faber, the 14-6 Jorgensen scored a Rear-Naked Choke stoppage in the opening round of his most recent rumble. Five of his victories have come by way of submission.
