Elite grappler Sara McMann has been pegged by many as the biggest threat to UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey’s crown given her athletic background and unbeaten record. However, before McMann can mix it up with Rousey she’ll need to first get by apt adversary Sheila Gaff at UFC 159.
Though not confirmed by UFC officials, a bout between the two has reportedly been scheduled for the April 27 event with Fighters.com citing a source close to the situation.
McMann, who won a silver medal in wrestling at the 2004 Olympics, is 6-0 thus far in her career including recent wins over Hitomi Akano and Shayna Baszler. Three of her fights have featured some form of finish.
While Gaff may lack McMann’s spotlight, she’s no stranger to scoring stoppages with a TKO/submission in all ten of her wins. The 23-year old Gaff holds an overall record of 10-4-1 including success in three straight tilts with all featuring a first-frame knockout.
