Gleison Tibau taking on John Cholish at UFC on FX 8

John Cholish v Mitch Clarke - UFC 140Fans in Brazil will be pleased to find out two of the top BJJers in the UFC’s lightweight division will lock horns when the organization stops in the South American nation for UFC on FX 8. Likewise, the match-up should make fans in general smile as well given both competitors’ potential for putting foes away.

According to a report from MMAFighting, Glesison Tibau will meet John Cholish in a match-up at the May 18 event.

Tibau is 26-9 with eleven submissions to his credit and a number of notable victories including those of Rafael dos Anjos, Kurt Pellegrino, Jeremy Stephens, and Josh Neer. However, he will be looking to get back on the winning track against Cholish after suffering a Split Decision loss to Evan Dunham in his last outing.

Like Tibau, Cholish is also coming off a stumble and should be especially hungry to come out triumphant as a result. He holds an overall record of 8-2 with seven stoppages.

I can’t stand Tibau. Dude is a decision machine with a grinding, painfully slow style of jiu jitsu, stiff and unaesthetic striking, and he never fights with a sense of urgency. Ever. I hope Cholish can pull this one out, but I imagine Tibau will grind him out for another lackluster decision win. Blah.

Ahem, sorry for that, folks. I had hate in my heart and had to let it out.
