Jon Fitch signs with World Series of Fighting

Jon Fitch v BJ Penn - UFCSeasoned welterweight Jon Fitch didn’t have to wait long to find a new professional home after recently being forced to unexpectedly test free agency due to a wave of UFC cuts. The former title-contender has apparently inked a deal with World Series of Fighting and will make his debut on June 14 at WSOF 3.

MMAFighting confirmed the grappler’s signing with a WSOF official. No opponent has been linked to what will be Fitch’s first fight outside of the Octagon in more than seven years.

The 35-year old Fitch holds a 24-5-1 mark in his career including wins over Diego Sanchez, Thiago Alves, and Ben Saunders. However, he is only 1-2-1 in his last four outings with the lone victory coming over Erick Silva.

Glad that Fitch was able to get on with somebody so quickly, hope to see him kicking ass again soon.

As it stands, the WSOF doesn’t have that bad a WW division. Josh Burkman, Geralrd Harris, Jorge Santiago, Aaron Simpson, Paul Bradley, even jumped up LW Lyle Beerbohm. Plus a couple of up a comers like Tyson Steele and even a few Gracies. If Fitch goes undefeated in that division, I can’t see anyway he doesn’t stay in the top 10. Which gives me the feeling WSOF will get absorbed in the UFC at some point.
