When UFC light heavyweight Ryan Bader was forced to withdraw from a go at top contender Glover Teixeira earlier this week the MMA world wondered what was wrong with the Ultimate Fighter 8 winner. Unfortunately, rather than be a minor setback, it appears Bader suffered an injury to his MCL while training for the tilt with Teixeira and won’t be back in action anytime soon.
According to Bader’s manager, the 29-year old won’t need surgery but will be shelved for 6-8 weeks while he recovers from the health-related woe. The update on Bader’s status came in a conversation with Bleacher Report.
The 15-3 Bader has won three of his last four fights including success against Quinton Jackson and most recently Vladimir Matyushenko. He is expected to be ready to fight again in late summer or early fall.
