A bantamweight bout between Roland Delorme and Edwin Figueroa has been booked for UFC 161. The fight will give Figueroa an opportunity to play the role of spoiler, as Delorme hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba where the event is being held.
UFC officials have confirmed the clash.
Delorme (8-1) has looked good since coming off TUF 14, picking up a pair of wins including an opening round submission of Nick Denis. Though he is technically on a two-fight run, Delorme was knocked out the last time he took to the Octagon but saw the result changed to a No Contest due to his opponent failing a drug test. All eight of Delorme’s wins have featured a TKO/submission.
The 9-2 Figueroa had the dubious honor of debuting against Michael McDonald and suffered a decision loss. He has gone 2-1 since. Like Delorme, Figueroa is a finisher by trade with eight stoppages to his credit.
