The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale may be scheduled for April 13 but two of the ongoing season’s contestants will clash a week earlier in Stockholm, as a fight between Tor Troeng and Adam Cella has been added to UFC on Fuel 9. The move is an atypical one from the UFC but understandable given Troeng’s connection to the region.
Though not confirmed by UFC officials, reliable Swedish outlet MMANYTT reported the rumble’s addition to the April 6 lineup. The card is headlined by a light heavyweight bout featuring scintillating Swede Alexander Gustafsson (15-1) mixing it up with Gegard Mousasi (33-3-1) for a concrete claim at top contendership.
Troeng holds an overall record of 15-4-1 with only a single loss in his last thirteen tilts. The 30-year old has scored eleven of his wins by way of stoppage with a near-even split between TKOs/submissions.
In addition to facing a tough foe, the 4-0 Cella will look to give fans a new memory of him in the Octagon after suffering a devastating knockout to Uriah Hall in their TUF 17 tilt. All four of his victories have featured some form of finish.
