It was an exciting night of action in Montreal at UFC 158, at least where two of the evening’s three featured welterweight fights were concerned.
Knockout of the Night went to Jake Ellenberger for his finish of Nate Marquardt, giving “The Juggernaut” a second straight win since falling to Martin Kampmann last summer. The end came after Ellenberger landed two stiff hooks sending Marquardt to the mat and sealed the deal with a few follow-up strikes. The victory was his eighteenth by way of strikes.
Meanwhile, Fight of the Night was awarded to welterweights Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks for their highlight-filled co-headliner. The bout saw Hendricks emerge with a Unanimous Decision nod after an extremely entertaining affair seeing both men land solid offense. Ultimately Hendricks’ wrestling was the difference with his repeated takedowns playing a significant role on the scorecards.
Since no tap-outs were record, no Submission of the Night was handed out.
All bonuses were worth $50,000.
