Middleweight Daniel Sarafian was set to make his UFC debut last summer at the Ultimate Fighter Brasil Finale where he expected to face Cezar Ferreira for the right to be named a TUF champion. Unfortunately, he was forced onto the sidelines due to injury and ended up with a Split Decision loss to C.B. Dollaway in his official unveiling a few months back.
Though Sarafian will never have another opportunity to win TUF Brasil, he will at least have an opportunity to fight on an event attached to the franchise in the form of a match-up with Eddie Mendez at UFC on Fuel 10. The lineup will also host the TUF Brasil 2 where a welterweight winner will emerge with the trademark trophy.
Sarafian holds an overall record of 7-3 with six wins by way of submission. Prior to the Dollaway loss he’d earned victory in four straight.
Comparably, Mendez is unbeaten in eight fights with the only blemish involving a Draw. The bout will mark his first inside the Octagon though he does own an outpointing of Fernando Gonzalez under the Strikeforce banner.
