Brazilian fans will get a double-dose of countrymen in the latest clash to find a home at UFC on Fuel 10, as a bout between bantamweights Yuri Alcantara and Marcos Vinicius has apparently been booked for the show. Both men are finishers by trade and in need of a victory, making for what should be an entertaining match-up once the cage door closes.
Though not confirmed by UFC officials, regional outlet SporTV reported the fight saying verbal agreements were already in place.
The 27-4 Alcantara will be looking for a better result than the controversial No Contest he had to deal with in his last outing when opponent Pedro Nobre claimed he was unable to continue after absorbing some questionable shots to the back of his head. Prior to the bout he’d gone 3-1 under the Zuffa banner with wins over Michihiro Omigawa and Ricardo Lamas. 23 of his triumphs have featured some form of stoppage.
Despite a 1-1 record in the Octagon, Vinicius holds an overall mark of 20-4-1 with finishes in all of his victories.
UFC on Fuel 10, scheduled to unfold on May 18 in Jaragua do Sol, features a main event between middleweights Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold where one will emerge with a solid claim to top contendership in the division. It will also host the final bout from TUF Brasil 2.
