Bantamweight Marlon Moraes has emerged as one of the names to watch at 135 pounds after outpointing Miguel Torres in November and then following the win up with a knockout of Tyson Nam last night at WSOF 2. And, as it turns out, Moraes only has one more bout on his deal with World Series of Fighting, putting the 24-year old in prime position to capitalize on his recent run of success by signing with the UFC.
However, fans shouldn’t expect to see Moraes inside the Octagon anytime soon. Shortly after his first-frame finish of Nam, Moraes spoke with MMAJunkie and explained he’s content with his current position in life.
“Right now I would not consider any offers. I am contracted with World Series of Fighting for at least one more fight. And I’m thinking of renewing my contract. I’m very happy with them. I hope they renew my contract,” said Moraes. “I am very happy with World Series of Fighting. I hope to keep fighting for them.”
“It doesn’t bother me to be with them,” the enthusiastic youngster continued. “For me, this is a dream come true, to be fighting on cards featuring Danillo Villefort, Paulo Filho, Gesias Cavalcante, guys whom I used to sit at home and watch as a child. I am very happy to be here. I want to remain here.”
Moares is currently on a four-fight winning streak. He is 10-4-1 in his career with seven stoppages.
