In 2011, UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard had scored five straight victories and was in position to earn a title-shot with one more win. However, Guillard was submitted by Joe Lauzon less than a minute into their match-up and saw the opportunity evaporate. As a result, “The Young Assassin” decided to pack his bags and head to the Blackzilian camp after years of training with Greg Jackson in New Mexico.
Now, with losses in three of four fights since the move, Guillard has come to the realization he was always better off with Jackson’s group and is returning to the renowned training center.
Guillard confirmed the news on Twitter, admitting’s Jackson’s gym was where he belonged all along.
No bout has been lined up for Guillard’s next effort. He holds an overall record of 30-12-2 with nineteen TKOs to his credit and was last seen suffering a Split Decision loss to Jamie Varner at UFC 155.
