UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard’s enthusiasm about returning to Greg Jackson’s gym was evident when “The Young Assassin” revealed the move a few days ago where he labeled the widely respected training center as the place he’d always belonged despite a recent stint as a member of the Blackzilians. However, it looks like the feeling wasn’t mutual.
According to a report from MMAJunkie, Guillard will not be welcomed back to the gym based on his behavior in the immediate wake of leaving. A group of the gym’s core members apparently voted on the matter and unanimously decided to keep the door closed to the 29-year old slugger.
Also affecting their stance, Guillard is facing assault charges in Albuquerque relating to a pair of 2010 incidents and could end up behind bars for a year depending on the result of his trial (set to start on April 10).
Guillard has lost four of his last five fights after picking up victories in each of his five previous pairings. He holds a career mark of 30-12-2 with 21 stoppages to his credit.
