Ferocious grappler Kamal Shalorus hasn’t been heard from since his three-year run under the Zuffa banner came to an end last summer. However, the 35-year old lightweight is ready to return to the ring after his extended absence and will do so on May 31 at ONE FC 9 where he’ll face talented Filipino fighter Eduard Folayang.
The match-up was first reported by Inside MMA. The card is set to take place just outside of Manila in the Philippines.
Shalorus was unbeaten in four WEC fights where he also defeated the likes of Dave Jansen and Bart Palaszewski. Unfortunately for his fans, the Iranian wrestler was never able to emulate that success in the Octagon, losing all three of his UFC efforts. He holds an overall record of 7-3-2 including five finishes in the bunch.
The 12-3 Folyang has split his two previous appearances in the ONE FC cage. Like Shalorus, he too will be looking to bounce back from a stumble in his previous pairing, suffering a doctor’s stoppage in a December bout and sitting on the sidelines ever since.
